ISLAMABAD, President Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan made a telephone call to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, expressing his deep sympathies and grief over the ongoing atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
According to Press Information Department (PID), President Alvi expressed his and the Pakistani nation’s profound sadness over the situation in Gaza, strongly condemning the lethal bombings and actions by Israeli forces that have resulted in the deaths of thousands, including women, children, healthcare workers, journalists, and UN aid workers. He criticized Israel for its decades-long policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing, leading to the displacement of Muslims from their territories.
President Alvi lamented the international community’s inaction against Israel’s campaign in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the resolution of the Palestinian dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. He urged the global community to work towards an urgent ceasefire, the establishment of an unhindered humanitarian corridor to Gaza, and a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue as per UN directives.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in response, described Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal and emphasized the dire need for humanitarian assistance, citing the lack of food, medicine, and electricity for the people of Gaza. He expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and humanitarian aid to Palestine.
