Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the critical role of enhanced health and education facilities in advancing women’s empowerment during his address at the 5th edition of the HUM Women Leaders Award 2024 in Islamabad. The event celebrated individuals who have significantly contributed to the economic empowerment of women across various sectors.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi stressed the importance of creating a harassment-free environment for women, enabling them to contribute effectively to the country’s development. He also praised the active participation of women and youth in the voting process during the recent general elections, highlighting their vital role in the democratic process.
First Lady Samina Alvi, speaking at the event, encouraged women to take advantage of the easy loan facilities provided by banks for setting up businesses, indicating the government’s support for women entrepreneurs. The ceremony, attended by the President, the First Lady, and other notable personalities, recognized the achievements of individuals who have excelled in their respective fields.
Award recipients included Sania Saeed, Sheema Kirmani, Khurshid Bano, Sheba Najmi, Razia Korejo, Huma Fakhar, Bibi Amna, Sadiqa Salahuddin, Numaira Saleem, Dr. Amany Asfour, Dr. Amjad Saqib, and Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.
