Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi has expressed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and lauded China’s role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a meeting with the Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, in Islamabad, President Alvi emphasized the importance of Chinese support in the next phase of CPEC for Pakistan’s industrial development. He acknowledged that economic cooperation between the two countries would strengthen their bilateral ties.
President Alvi remarked on China’s steadfast support for Pakistan during challenging times, highlighting the contribution of CPEC projects to Pakistan’s economic development and energy needs. He expressed Pakistan’s desire to learn from China’s experiences in various sectors, including IT, education, health, agriculture, and poverty alleviation, to further its socio-economic development.
Reiterating Pakistan’s support for China on core issues, President Alvi affirmed Pakistan’s adherence to the ‘One China’ Policy and its support for China’s positions on Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea. He also expressed gratitude for China’s support on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Sun Weidong, the Vice Foreign Minister of China, highlighted the long-standing and friendly relations between Pakistan and China, noting that CPEC has already produced fruitful results. He acknowledged the potential for increased cooperation in various fields between the two nations.
