Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi has called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders and members of the Senate of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (FUUAST) to enhance the university’s operations and restore its esteemed status. The President expressed concern over the irregularity of Senate meetings and emphasized the necessity of filling key positions for timely decision-making. These remarks were made during his chairing of the 49th Special Meeting of the Senate of FUUAST at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting, attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and other Senate members, saw the appointment of Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of FUUAST. The Senate also discussed the formation of a Search Committee to appoint a regular Vice Chancellor within 60 days. It was agreed that the President of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu Pakistan would continue as the ex-officio member of the Senate as per the FUUAST Ordinance. Additionally, the Senate decided to form an inquiry committee to investigate allegations of irregularities reported by the HEC.
