President Alvi Calls for Enhanced Book Access for Visually Impaired in Pakistan


Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi has called for improved access to books and knowledge for visually impaired individuals in Pakistan. His remarks came during a briefing about the National Book Foundation’s role and performance.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the President stressed the importance of intellectual and individual development through the promotion of a book-reading culture in the country. He welcomed the availability of books and knowledge in Braille for the visually impaired.



Dr. Raja Mazhar Hameed, Managing Director of the National Book Foundation, highlighted special measures being taken for people affected by dyslexia. He mentioned that books are being prepared for dyslexic children from Prep to 8th grade. Additionally, the Managing Director revealed plans to provide books for visually impaired children in 431 schools across the federal capital.



The briefing also included information on the National Book Foundation’s efforts to publish books on various topics in Braille. This initiative is part of a broader movement to make educational resources more inclusive and accessible in Pakistan.
