Islamabad, Emphasizing the significance of agriculture in Pakistan’s economy, President Dr. Arif Alvi highlighted the importance of adopting value-added approaches and enhancing research efforts to escalate agriculture production. The President’s remarks came during his address at the Exports Trophy ceremony of the Rice Export Association of Pakistan, where he called for a more collaborative approach involving all societal segments in the country’s decision-making processes.
According to a news release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Alvi asserted the necessity of joint ventures to surge investments in agriculture and other critical sectors. He accentuated the urgency to focus on research-driven strategies to augment agro-oriented exports, thereby strengthening the national economy. Dr. Alvi also touched upon the environmental impacts on the nation’s fishing industry, pointing out that waste discharge into the sea has gravely hampered fish production and subsequent exports. To remedy this, he emphasized the need for waste-free seawater to invigorate the fish export industry and bolster economic growth.
Also speaking at the event, Governor Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, underscored the importance of boosting exports to uplift the national economy. Expressing contentment, Tessori noted that the rice export sector stands as the second-largest export trade institution, playing a pivotal role in the national economic framework.
