Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi underscored the necessity of long-term strategic planning in the tourism sector to foster sustainable development and attract foreign investment.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it was reported that President Alvi, while addressing the 3rd Sustainable Mountain Sports Tourism Conference 2023 in Islamabad, emphasized the importance of improving road infrastructure, effective management, and maintaining a clean environment to draw the attention of foreign tourists. He highlighted the crucial role of the tourism industry in the national economy and pointed out the potential of sports, particularly mountaineering, as a significant source of revenue.
Dr. Alvi noted that Pakistan is endowed with diverse tourist attractions, including some of the world’s highest mountain peaks, breathtaking coastlines, remnants of ancient civilizations, and a rich cultural heritage. He stressed the importance of harnessing this potential for sustainable tourism development, focusing on green investments to ensure a better and more viable future.
The event saw the participation of numerous renowned mountaineers, whose contributions to the country were acknowledged by the President. In recognition of their achievements, President Alvi presented shields to the top mountaineers at the conference.
