President Alvi Advocates for Enhanced Support for Visually Impaired Individuals

ISLAMABAD, Addressing an event in relation to World Cane Safety Day today, President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the need for society’s proactive engagement to ameliorate the challenges faced by the visually impaired.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi highlighted the importance of equipping educators with contemporary methods tailored for teaching visually impaired students. He advocated for an inclusive educational approach where visually impaired children learn alongside their peers, thereby enriching the educational experience for all. The President acknowledged NAVTCC’s initiatives aimed at equipping Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with valuable skills, noting its positive societal impact.

Additionally, Dr. Alvi expressed satisfaction over the accessibility provisions in approximately eighty percent of the nation’s banks for PWDs. Pointing to technological advancements, he mentioned the potential of the Brain Computer Interface in improving the quality of life for PWDs. Dr. Alvi voiced optimism about the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing the needs of the disabled community in the foreseeable future. He also lauded the Ministry of Human Rights for their endeavours in empowering PWDs and emphasized the importance of reserving job quotas for this community in employment sectors.
