President Alvi Advocates for Enhanced Health and Education to Empower Women

Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi has highlighted the critical role of improved health and education facilities in advancing women’s empowerment in Pakistan. Speaking at the 5th edition of the HUM Women Leaders Award 2024 in Islamabad, the President emphasized the need for a harassment-free environment that allows women to contribute effectively to the nation’s development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi praised the initiative for celebrating individuals who have significantly contributed to the economic empowerment of women. He also commended the active participation of women and youth in the voting process during the country’s recent general elections, underlining their vital role in the democratic process.

The First Lady, Samina Alvi, also addressed the gathering, encouraging women to take advantage of the easy loans offered by banks for establishing businesses. This move is seen as a step towards facilitating women’s entrepreneurship and economic independence.

The ceremony saw the President and the First Lady, along with other dignitaries, honoring recipients who have shown excellence in various fields. Award winners included notable figures such as Sania Saeed, Sheema Kirmani, Khurshid Bano, Sheba Najmi, and Razia Korejo, among others, recognized for their outstanding contributions to their respective domains.

The HUM Women Leaders Award serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women leaders, furthering the cause of women’s empowerment in Pakistan.
