President Advocates for All-Weather Road Infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has called for the development of an all-weather road infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to facilitate trade, economic growth, and tourism in the region. The President discussed this initiative with a delegation led by the President of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians GB, Mr. Amjad Hussain Advocate, highlighting the strategic importance of improving transportation between Gilgit and Skardu.

According to Press Information Department, President Zardari outlined several development priorities for GB, including enhancing health and education infrastructure, addressing climate change impacts, and boosting tourism and economic activities. He emphasized the construction of roads and tunnels to improve connectivity and access to essential services.

Additionally, the President stressed the importance of upgrading Gilgit’s airport to support tourism and proposed the establishment of a cardiology hospital and nursing college in the region. The meeting also covered environmental concerns, with suggestions for afforestation initiatives to protect local glaciers. President Zardari reaffirmed his commitment to making GB a prosperous and developed region, leveraging its potential in hydroelectric power and tourism for national growth.
