Preliminary Polling Station Lists Released for Upcoming ElectionsECP Operational Despite Secretary’s Illness, Minister Solangi Reassures Public

Islamabad, In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan, returning officers have published preliminary lists of polling stations for each constituency, paving the way for the upcoming elections.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, candidates and voters are now given the opportunity to submit their suggestions or objections regarding the designated polling stations to the District Returning Officers (DROs) until Thursday. This process is a critical step in ensuring the accessibility and fairness of the polling stations for all constituents.

The DROs are scheduled to review and decide on these objections or suggestions from the 12th to the 17th of this month. Following this review period, the final list of polling stations will be announced 15 days prior to the election date, ensuring transparency and adequate preparation time for all parties involved.

Islamabad, Murtaza Solangi, the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has assured that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is fully operational and there is no crisis affecting its functionality. This statement comes amid concerns over the health of ECP Secretary Omar Hamid Khan.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi addressed the public via a social media platform to dispel any rumours regarding the ECP’s operational status. He acknowledged the illness of Secretary Omar Hamid Khan, expressing hopes for his speedy and complete recovery.



The press release from the Election Commission described Omar Hamid Khan as an intelligent and hardworking officer who has been efficiently performing his duties. It acknowledged that Khan has been facing health issues recently and has taken medical leave in the past. The Commission assured that Khan is expected to resume his duties soon, health permitting.



The ECP emphasized that the commission remains fully functional and operational, with no impediments to its work. It stated that the ECP and its offices continue their operations even during vacations. In the absence of Secretary Khan, the two special secretaries of the commission are managing the affairs of the ECP, ensuring its smooth functioning. The reassurance from the Caretaker Minister comes at a crucial time, highlighting the ECP’s commitment to maintaining its operations and responsibilities without interruption.
