Islamabad, Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari today detailed the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (NEPRA) quarterly tariff adjustment plan, outlining changes in the electricity tariffs over the coming months. The plan includes adjustments for the second and third quarters of the current fiscal year, which will impact the electricity bills of consumers across Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the tariff adjustment for the second quarter of 2023-24 is set at 2.75 rupees, which has been applied to the electricity bills for April, May, and June. For the upcoming third quarter, NEPRA has established a staggered tariff adjustment. In July, the adjustment will decrease significantly to 0.93 rupees, continuing at the same rate for August, after a one-time adjustment of 1.90 rupees in June.

Minister Leghari highlighted that the total quarterly adjustment charged in June will be 4.65 rupees, but this will decrease to 0.93 rupees for the months of July and August, marking a substantial reduction of 3.72 rupees. This adjustment mechanism is part of NEPRA’s approach to aligning energy charges closely with fluctuating operational costs and fuel prices.
