Posters call shutdown on Thursday and Saturday in IIOJK

Srinagar, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, posters have appeared in different areas of the territory asking the people to observe complete shutdown on February 9 and 11, the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation martyr leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt. Indian authorities had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984 and Muhammad Afzal Guru in the same Jail on February 09 in 2013. The bodies of the two martyred leaders were buried in the premises of the jail.

The posters were pasted on walls in Srinagar and other areas and circulated on social media by Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Movement, Wariseen-e-Shuhada-e-Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Alliance, Jammu and Kashmir Sada-e-Mazloom and other organizations. The posters with the pictures of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru said the Kashmiris are engaged in a just struggle to secure their right to self-determination.

The posters reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their struggle despite Indian state terrorism. They asked the people of Kashmir to foil the nefarious designs of Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government to change the demographic composition of the territory.
