Polling Underway in Multan for NA-148 By-Election

Multan, Polling for the NA-148 Multan-1 by-election commenced this morning at 8:00 am and will continue uninterrupted until 5:00 pm. Local residents are turning out in significant numbers early in the day to avoid the afternoon heat, casting their votes in what is noted to be a closely watched contest.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, comprehensive security measures are in place to ensure that the polls remain free, fair, and transparent. A total of 275 polling stations and 933 polling booths have been set up across the constituency, with specific allocations of 485 booths for men and 448 for women. There are 444,231 registered voters eligible to participate in the by-election. The seat was vacated by Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani upon his appointment as Chairman of the Senate, with his son Syed Ali Qasim Gillani from the PPP and Taimoor Altaf Mahay, an independent candidate supported by the Sunni Ittehad Council, being the primary contenders.
