Political Campaigns Ramp Up Across Pakistan Ahead of General Elections

Islamabad, With the general elections approaching, political parties and independent candidates are intensifying their campaign efforts across Pakistan, engaging voters through public gatherings and corner meetings.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized preparations for the upcoming elections, establishing a total of 90,675 polling stations across the four provinces to accommodate over 120 million registered voters. These voters will cast their ballots for seats in both the National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies.

The distribution of polling stations includes 41,403 combined stations, with separate allocations for male and female voters, numbering at 25,320 and 23,952, respectively. The electoral race is competitive, with a total of 5,121 candidates vying for 266 general seats in the National Assembly. The candidate pool comprises 4,807 males, 312 females, and two transgender individuals.

The elections will also determine representation for 593 general seats across the provincial assemblies, marking a crucial moment for Pakistan’s democratic process. The ECP’s comprehensive arrangements aim to ensure a smooth and inclusive voting experience for all eligible citizens.
