Islamabad, 13 Oct 2023: A paramount meeting centered on post-flood Resilient, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Framework (4RF) activities was conducted under the supervision of the caretaker Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Muhammad Sami Saeed, in Islamabad on Friday. The information was relayed through a press release by PID (Press Information Department). Gathering high-ranking officials, including the Minister for Planning of Gilgit Baltistan, Secretary Planning, Secretary EAD, and Chief Secretary GB, alongside Country Directors from World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union Islamabad, and representatives from NDMA, the 2nd meeting of the Policy and Strategy Committee/Oversight Board aimed to closely inspect and strategize about the various aspects of the 4RF projects, particularly to enhance the streamlining of project implementation and assessment of the approved projects’ status across the provinces.
Secretary Planning, Awais Manzur Sumra, presented an in-depth review of the ongoing progress, accentuating the necessity of accelerating both the implementation and financing arrangements in collaboration with the Federal RRU. Furthermore, Muhammad Sami Saeed expressed the government’s steadfast commitment to back and facilitate donor agencies throughout the thorough implementation and completion of the pivotal projects. The minister appealed to all pertinent institutions to expedite the approval of pending PC-1s of the 4RF projects.
Notably, donor agencies extended their praise towards the Ministry of Planning for its meticulous oversight and management of the 4RF projects and their execution. Their commitment to perpetually support these projects in upcoming times was affirmed during the meeting.
In this second meeting of the Oversight Board, the clear emphasis was laid on enhancing post-flood resilience and ensuring steady recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction. Both the government’s unwavering dedication and the persistent support from donor agencies underline a collective commitment toward the sustainable development and well-being of the regions impacted.
