KARACHI: In a strategic operation ordered by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, police forces in Sukkur and Khairpur successfully rescued 12 kidnapped individuals from the Kacha area. The operation targeted criminal networks entrenched in the region, leading to the arrest of several suspects.
The operation unfolded over two days, starting on May 12 in the Bagarji Kacha area of Sukkur. Police faced substantial resistance, including heavy gunfire from sophisticated weaponry such as machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. Despite these challenges, law enforcement agencies managed to destroy multiple criminal hideouts.
The challenging terrain of the riverine area posed additional difficulties for the operation. Dacoits had prepared trenches to hinder the movement of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), and dense forestation further complicated efforts. Nonetheless, police forces pressed on with significant manpower and equipment, including five APCs and surveillance drones for real-time aerial monitoring.
The operation was led by SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan and SSP Khairpur Hassan Sardar, deploying 100 police personnel. The police destroyed hideouts belonging to the notorious dacoit Rajab Jatoi. Although Jatoi escaped, his base was reportedly set ablaze during the operation. Six dacoits were injured, and 12 kidnapped individuals, including nine from Khairpur and three from Sukkur, were recovered.
Sindh Chief Minister emphasized the priority of protecting citizens and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to law enforcement. He encouraged public cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
The operation marks a significant step in reclaiming control over regions long dominated by criminal elements. Police sources indicate that further phases of the operation are planned to dismantle remaining criminal networks.
