Police Officer Killed in Accidental Shooting in Jalandhar, Punjab


Jalandhar, A police Sub-Inspector in Jalandhar, Punjab, lost his life in a tragic incident involving what is believed to be an accidental discharge of his service weapon. Bhupinder Singh, aged 50, was reportedly cleaning his official 9mm service pistol in his car when a bullet was unexpectedly fired, striking him in the head.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place in the parking lot of the CIA staff office of the Jalandhar (Rural) police. Gurpreet Singh, SHO, Division No. 2, who is overseeing the investigation, stated that Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh succumbed to his injuries at the scene.



In a separate incident, Vikas Amarpal Jaiswal, a Mumbai resident, was apprehended on charges of making a hoax bomb call to the police in Samaspur village, located in the Gurugram district of Haryana state. The arrest highlights ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in dealing with false alarms and public safety threats.
