Lahore, December 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):SACM and Spokesman Punjab Government Hasaan Khawar has said that a case has been registered against those involved in the tragic incident of Sialkot on the complaint of Police under murder and anti-terrorism act. During the last 24 hours, Police have apprehended 118 people, including 13 major suspects of the incident, by conducting more than 200 raids. Hassan Khawar said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar are personally monitoring the case. He said stern punishment would be ensured for all those involved in this brutality.
No one is allowed to take the law into their own hands. He further stated that departmental inquiry is also being held to see what time police took to reach the spot after receiving the first call and strict action would be taken in case of any delay or negligence. Hassan Khawar assured the nation that impartial justice would be done.
These views were expressed by him during a joint press conference with IG Police Punjab on the Sialkot incident at DGPR office, today. Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that Police, by taking prompt action, have arrested 13 main accused in less than 24 hours.
More than 12 hours long footage of 160 CCTV cameras and mobile data analyses of the people present on the spot has been examined in this regard. He said that police received the first call at 11:28 am and at 11:45 am the SHO of Ugoki police station along with his team reached the spot.
By the time they reached, a Sri Lankan citizen had been murdered. On being informed of the incident, DPO Sialkot and SSP Sialkot along with a heavy contingent reached the spot and restored law and order by controlling the angry mob.
The IG Punjab said that he directed RPO Gujranwala to reach the spot as soon as he received the information of this tragic incident. Police by exhibiting professional abilities arrested the suspects, moreover nabbed 13 main accused with the help of CCTV footage. He further stated that CTD, Special Branch and concerned senior officers took part in the operation and presently, a team of senior police officers is investigating all aspects of the incident.
In a response to a question, the IG Punjab said that the case against these accused would be tried in the terrorism court and the police would soon complete the investigation and present them in the court so that the accused could be punished as soon as possible.
