Police Arrest 16 in Islamabad During Crime Crackdown

Islamabad: In a focused effort to curb criminal activities, the Islamabad Police have arrested 16 individuals over the past 24 hours. The arrests were made as part of a city-wide crackdown targeting drug peddling, illegal possession of weapons, and other offenses.

According to a statement by Islamabad Capital Police, officers from Kohsar, Tanol, Sangjani, Sabzi Mandi, Shams Colony, Khanna, Kirpa, Nilore, and Phulgran police stations detained 10 suspects involved in a range of criminal activities. The police confiscated 2,672 grams of heroin, 12 bottles of wine, and 10 pistols with ammunition during the operations.

Additionally, a special campaign aimed at apprehending proclaimed offenders and absconders led to the arrest of six more individuals. Legal cases have been filed against all those arrested, and investigations are still in progress.

The operations come under the directive of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order in the federal capital. The Islamabad Police have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of residents, emphasizing that any activities threatening public peace will not be tolerated.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities to local police stations or through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” to facilitate joint efforts in crime prevention.
