Poland and Pakistan Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties During High-Level Meeting


Islamabad: Tomasz Siemoniak, the Minister, Member of the Council of Ministers, and Coordinator of Special Services of the Republic of Poland, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, where both leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. The meeting emphasized the potential for a multifaceted partnership aimed at benefiting both nations.



According to Press Information Department, President Zardari highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with Poland, particularly appreciating Poland’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s role in the recent US-Iran crisis. The President reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue to ensure regional and global peace.



President Zardari encouraged leveraging Poland’s economic progress since 1991 for strengthened business and leadership exchanges. He also acknowledged Poland’s support regarding the EU’s GSP Plus scheme and expressed optimism about reinforcing coordination at regional and multilateral platforms.



Tomasz Siemoniak recognized Pakistan’s contributions to regional stability and conveyed Poland’s interest in deepening political, economic, and people-to-people engagements. He highlighted Poland’s historical ties with Pakistan, especially in defense, and expressed an interest in expanding cooperation in security, immigration, and anti-terrorism efforts.



The meeting also saw the announcement of naming a street in Islamabad after Air Commodore Wladyslaw Józef Marian Turowicz, a notable figure who contributed significantly to the Pakistan Air Force after serving in the Polish Air Force and the Royal Air Force during World War II.



The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Polish Ambassador to Pakistan Maciej Pisarski and several key figures from the Polish military and intelligence sectors, as well as Pakistani dignitaries such as Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Senators Sherry Rehman and Saleem Mandviwalla.
