Islamabad: Pakistan Navy Ship PNS Zulfiqar has successfully rescued 23 Iranian fishermen in the Gulf of Aden, following an emergency situation faced by the Iranian fishing boat, Al-Muhammadi.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PNS Zulfiqar received a distress call from the Iranian vessel while conducting a regional maritime security patrol. The fishing boat reported that it was stranded 1,200 nautical miles from its home port, with engine failure and one crew member requiring urgent medical attention.
The crew aboard PNS Zulfiqar responded swiftly, offering both medical and technical assistance to the distressed fishermen. The vessel’s engine was repaired, allowing the fishermen to continue their journey.
The Pakistan Navy regularly undertakes such humanitarian missions during its deployments, underscoring its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of maritime vessels in the region.
