JEDDAH: The Pakistan Navy Ship Yamama, recently commissioned and on its maiden voyage from Romania to Pakistan, made a significant stop in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The vessel’s visit included participating in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), underscoring the importance of naval cooperation between the two nations.
According to a statement by Pakistan Navy, the ship was greeted at Jeddah port by senior RSNF officials and representatives from the Pakistan Embassy. During its stay, the crew of PNS Yamama engaged in various professional activities such as cross-ship visits, discussions on maritime issues, and meetings with RSNF leadership.
Subsequent to the port visit, PNS Yamama conducted a PASSEX with HMS Makkah. The exercise aimed at strengthening naval cooperation and improving interoperability between the two navies. Both forces reiterated their commitment to maintaining maritime security and fostering regional stability.
The visit of PNS Yamama to Saudi Arabia and its involvement in the bilateral exercise further emphasized the robust relations and defense collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
PNS Yamama is the fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel built for the Pakistan Navy by Damen Shipyards in Galati, Romania. These vessels are equipped with advanced technologies designed for operation in contested maritime environments, contributing to peace and deterrence in challenging times.
