PNEC Unveils New Urban Electric Vehicle ‘AZAD-E’

Karachi: In a significant development for Pakistan’s urban mobility, the Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) unveiled the new Urban Electric Vehicle named ‘AZAD-E’ during a ceremony in Karachi. The event, presided over by Managing Director Pakistan Navy Dockyard Rear Admiral Mazhar Mehmood Malik as Chief Guest, showcased the innovative efforts of PNEC students and faculty.

According to Pakistan Navy, Rear Admiral Mazhar Mehmood Malik and Commodore Tauqeer Ahmad Khawaja, Commandant of PNEC, were joined by a host of dignitaries including industrial leaders, academicians, and sponsors, as well as the families of students. The ceremony highlighted the college’s commitment to cutting-edge academic projects and its role in promoting sustainable technologies.

The Commandant noted that ‘Team Envision PNEC-NUST,’ a student society at the institute, has developed 14 urban vehicles to date. He proudly mentioned that PNEC students are preparing to represent Pakistan at the Teknofest Efficiency Challenge in Turkey this September, where they will showcase ‘AZAD-E.’

Rear Admiral Malik commended the students for their dedication to creating a fuel-efficient vehicle that aligns with global environmental goals aimed at minimizing carbon footprints. He affirmed the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing support for educational initiatives that empower young talent and foster innovation in fields critical to national and international needs.
