Islamabad: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, is set to commemorate Youm-e-Istehsal on August 5 with a series of cultural activities designed to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir. This date marks the fifth anniversary of the revocation of Article 370 by the Indian government, which had granted special status to the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Modi-led government’s actions on this day in 2019, which included a severe military clampdown and the suspension of civil liberties in the region, are seen as violations of both United Nations resolutions and international law. The PNCA plans to host photo exhibitions, screenings of documentaries, and a puppet show to highlight the ongoing struggles of the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination.
The events aim to draw attention to the hardships faced by Kashmiris under Indian administration and advocate for international intervention to restore peace and justice in the area. Additionally, Pakistan will observe Youm-e-Istehsal with various national activities including seminars, conferences, and public rallies to reinforce the country’s support for the Kashmiri pursuit of independence.
These rallies, anticipated to see wide participation from diverse societal sectors, are intended to send a robust message of unity and support from Pakistan to the Kashmiri people.
