Lahore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming five-day trip to China is poised to deepen the already strong ties between the two nations, with plans to elevate the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and enhance bilateral cooperation in several key areas. In a video message released before his departure, Sharif highlighted the focus of his visit, which includes strengthening business connections and advancing major infrastructure projects.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister’s agenda in China will involve discussions on new agreements and partnerships across various sectors such as agriculture, mines and minerals, information technology, infrastructure, youth training, industries, and special economic zones. Additionally, talks will cover the commercialization of Gwadar port and the expansion of the historic Silk Route by sea and road.
Sharif emphasized the unique and enduring nature of the Pakistan-China relationship, describing it as unparalleled globally. He noted China’s consistent support for Pakistan during challenging times and its advocacy for Kashmir. The Prime Minister also expressed his support for China’s key policy stances, including the One China policy and matters concerning the South China Sea.
Commending Chinese President Xi Jinping’s leadership, Sharif attributed China’s rise as a global economic and military powerhouse and its role in promoting global peace and prosperity to Xi’s vision and leadership.
