PM’s Climate Initiative: Romina Khurshid Alam Outlines Pakistan’s Environmental Goals


Islamabad, Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change, emphasized the urgent need for initiatives to mitigate global warming and its catastrophic effects during a meeting in Islamabad. She outlined the government’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s climate resilience and environmental sustainability across various socio-economic sectors.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Alam stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed relevant authorities to intensify efforts against environmental degradation and boost the country’s resilience against climate change. The focus on sustainable production and consumption was highlighted as crucial for tackling climate-related challenges, particularly affecting water, agriculture, energy, health, and education sectors.



Additionally, Agostino Da Polenza, President of the Italian NGO, briefed on initiatives aimed at socio-economic development and environmental conservation in Pakistan’s mountainous regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan.
