Islamabad: Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, has urged the Pakistan Climate Change Authority (PCCA) to enhance collaboration among federal and provincial bodies to strengthen climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and low-carbon development. Addressing the 2nd PCCA meeting, she emphasized the need for coordinated national efforts to mitigate the growing climate risks faced by Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, Alam stressed the importance of addressing long-term and short-term national climate policies, noting that a lack of coordination has heightened the vulnerability of key sectors such as agriculture, water, and energy. She called on the PCCA to accelerate its efforts in uniting various organizations and stakeholders to implement policies aimed at combating the impacts of climate change, including floods, heatwaves, and glacial melting.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of public awareness and community engagement in climate action, with Alam underscoring the critical role of media and educational institutions in enhancing public understanding of climate challenges. Participants reviewed the progress of national climate change policies and discussed the need for greater cooperation across government institutions to create a unified response to the escalating environmental threats.
