PML-N Leads National Assembly Seats in Pakistan’s General Elections


Islamabad, The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured its position as the largest party in the National Assembly following Pakistan’s recent general elections. With seventy-three seats to its name, the PML-N stands at the forefront of the parliamentary lineup, As per the unofficial results for 255 out of the 265 seats announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) follows with fifty-four seats, while the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has garnered seventeen seats. Other parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F), have won three seats each, with two seats going to the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. Additional seats were captured by Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, Balochistan National Party, and PML-Z, each securing one seat. Independents have made a significant impact by winning a total of one hundred seats across the country.



In the provincial assemblies, the distribution of seats showcases regional preferences. The PPP has achieved a dominant victory in the Sindh Assembly with eighty-four seats, while the MQM-Pakistan has claimed twenty-eight seats. The Punjab Assembly sees the PML-N leading with one hundred and thirty-seven seats, indicative of the party’s strong presence in the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elections have resulted in ninety independents emerging victoriously, highlighting the province’s fragmented political landscape. Meanwhile, in the Balochistan Assembly, the PPP Parliamentarians lead with eleven seats, closely followed by both the PML-N and JUI (F) with nine seats each.



The election results reflect a diverse political landscape in Pakistan, with the PML-N’s leading position in the National Assembly setting the stage for potential coalition formations and governance strategies. The significant number of independent winners across various assemblies also underscores the complexity and varied political affiliations within the country’s legislative framework.
