PMIC Chairman Demands Expedited Completion of Model Prison Project in Islamabad

Karachi, Brig. (Retd.) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission (PMIC), has taken serious note of the delays in the completion of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) project titled “Construction of Model Prison at H-16, Islamabad.” The PMIC has emphasized the need for speedy and effective completion of the project, following concerns raised by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Chairman presided over a meeting with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ministry of Housing and Works, Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD), National Highway Authority (NHA), and other relevant authorities. The meeting reviewed the implementation status and recent progress on the Model Prison project.

The PMIC has assigned Engr. Aamir Hasan, Member PMIC and a former retired Federal Secretary, the task of ensuring effective supervision of the project. The decision follows dissatisfaction expressed over the project’s progress since a prior meeting on October 10, 2023.

During the meeting, Engr. Aamir Hasan briefed the chair on his recent field visit to the project site, and other department representatives provided updates on the project’s current status. The Chairman issued directives for the accelerated completion of the project, which has experienced significant delays.

The PMIC has underscored the importance of adhering to the project’s objectives in true letter and spirit. An implementation report detailing the progress will be submitted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, ensuring accountability and timely completion of the Model Prison project in Islamabad.
