PM Vows Revenue Target Achievement Through FBR Reforms

Lahore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving revenue collection targets through reforms and legislative measures within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), addressing a ceremony in Lahore today to recognize the efforts of FBR officers in revenue collection.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of competent and diligent officials in addressing the challenge of revenue collection in Pakistan. He directed authorities to enact legislation ensuring that only deserving individuals are promoted to senior positions within the FBR.

Highlighting the significance of revenue collection, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of officials who have contributed to revenue generation. He assured that the government remains committed to implementing reforms within the FBR and taking strict action against incompetence and corruption.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the issue of pending tax-related claims worth 2.7 trillion rupees, stating that legislation has been drafted to expedite the resolution of such cases once ratified by the President.

During the ceremony, shields were distributed among outstanding officers for their exceptional performance, and cash prizes were announced to recognize their dedication. Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, acknowledged the identified weaknesses in the tax collection system and highlighted ongoing efforts to address them.

Chairman of the FBR, Amjad Zubair Tiwana, assured that measures are being implemented to enhance the institution’s performance and ensure honest and integral revenue collection efforts.
