Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the necessity of developing effective mechanisms to ensure the faithful implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, highlighting the importance of adherence to international law and treaties for fostering global peace, security, and prosperity.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, who is a candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, in Islamabad. He reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to the principles and purposes outlined in the United Nations Charter and reaffirmed the country’s dedication to multilateralism.

Shehbaz Sharif underscored the significance of achieving balanced progress across the United Nations’ three pillars: peace and security, development, and human rights. He highlighted the urgency of advancing the global development agenda and enhancing international cooperation to tackle the pressing challenges faced by developing countries.

In response, Ms. Rebeca Grynspan praised Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the United Nations and acknowledged the country’s constructive role in recent regional peace initiatives.
