Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to prioritize the safety and dignity of women in Pakistan. In a statement made on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, he emphasized the need to address violence against women as a critical human rights issue and an impediment to national progress.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister used the social media platform X to highlight his government’s dedication to enhancing legal measures against gender-based violence. He outlined plans for strict enforcement of existing laws, such as the protection against harassment of women at workplace act, and the establishment of accessible justice mechanisms.
This reaffirmation underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to create a safer environment for women, aligning with international calls to eradicate violence against women and promote gender equality.
