PM Shehbaz Sharif Orders Implementation of Modern Solid Waste Management System Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the implementation of an advanced solid waste management system across Pakistan, in coordination with provincial governments, to enhance sustainable development efforts. The initiative, announced during a meeting in Islamabad, aims to reduce reliance on imported fuel and decrease the nation’s carbon footprint through innovative energy production from waste.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of utilizing environmentally friendly and renewable energy sources. He instructed the formation of a task force to develop a comprehensive plan for generating electricity from solid waste, incorporating insights from modern technology and international practices. The task force will include private sector experts and internationally renowned specialists to ensure that the recommendations are well-informed and effective.

The meeting, attended by federal ministers and senior officials, reflects the government’s commitment to adopting sustainable practices and addressing environmental challenges. By focusing on energy production from solid waste, the government seeks to conserve foreign exchange and promote environmental sustainability.
