Islamabad, In response to the recent terrorist attack on Chinese nationals in Bisham, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed a detailed joint investigation, mobilizing all state resources to bring the perpetrators to justice. The directive came during an emergency meeting held in Islamabad, convened to address the assault on workers of the Dassu Hydel Power Project, a key initiative aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s energy and water security.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting saw the participation of Federal Ministers, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, and Inspectors General of Police from various provinces. Discussions focused on the brutal attack on civilians contributing to a significant development project, underlining the tragedy of the loss, particularly among the Chinese community, and the immediate need for action.
Prime Minister Sharif extended his deepest condolences to the victims’ families and emphasized the strong ties of friendship between Pakistan and China, expressing the national grief over the Chinese casualties. He lauded the prompt response of Law Enforcement Agencies and local residents in mitigating the attack’s impact, saving numerous lives.
Highlighting terrorism as a transnational threat, Sharif pointed out its use by adversaries to hinder Pakistan’s progress. He specifically noted that attacks targeting the Pakistan-China partnership aim to sow discord between the “iron brothers.”
The meeting’s participants unanimously voiced their determination to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan, stressing the importance of a regional strategy for combating terrorism effectively. Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to eliminating terrorism and reflected on Pakistan’s enduring battle against terror over the last two decades.
With a recent uptick in terrorist incidents, General Munir underscored the enemies’ underestimation of Pakistan’s resilience. He vowed to protect all foreign nationals, especially the Chinese working in Pakistan, and assured that the fight against terrorism would continue with full force until complete eradication.
The meeting concluded with a reinforced resolve among the attendees to utilize all available resources in the comprehensive fight against terrorism, ensuring the safety and security of both Pakistani citizens and international collaborators.
