PM Shehbaz Sharif Orders Action to Address Artificial Fuel Shortage

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated stringent measures to counteract any artificial fuel shortages, instructing relevant authorities to collaborate with provincial governments and take decisive action against those responsible. This directive was issued during a meeting in Islamabad focused on reviewing austerity measures amidst the current economic landscape.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister acknowledged the region’s persistent uncertainty and emphasized the necessity for preparedness in tackling potential challenges. He assured that the country’s economy remains stable but called for a comprehensive contingency plan to ensure prompt responses if required.

In his remarks, Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the prior national austerity campaign, particularly in conserving petroleum and energy resources. He credited the government’s strategic approach with successfully maintaining the nation’s fuel supply and safeguarding the interests of ordinary citizens, including motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, and transporters.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that government subsidies have played a crucial role in cushioning the public from the impact of rising fuel prices. He cautioned that ongoing regional tensions could negatively affect Pakistan’s economy in the future and urged for a continued national focus on austerity and resourcefulness.

The meeting concluded with assurances that adequate petroleum stocks are available to fulfill the country’s needs, and measures have been implemented to guarantee uninterrupted future supplies.
