Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has committed to enhancing sports opportunities for the youth of Pakistan, aiming to direct their energies towards positive and constructive activities. He announced this commitment during a meeting with Sufyan Mehsud, a five-year-old from Dera Ismail Khan who recently set a Guinness World Record, highlighting the potential and capabilities of young Pakistanis.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with young Sufyan Mehsud and his father in Islamabad, where he praised the young boy’s achievement as a source of national pride. The Prime Minister directed Rana Mashhood, Chairman of the Youth Program, along with other relevant officials, to take steps to expand sports activities accessible to the youth across the country.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif remarked on the importance of nurturing the talents of Pakistan’s youth, whom he described as the guarantors of the nation’s bright future. He emphasized the government’s role in providing the necessary facilities and platforms to further encourage their participation in sports.
In addition to discussing sports development, Sufyan Mehsud expressed his ambitions of contributing to Pakistan’s global reputation in science in the future. The Prime Minister also engaged in a conversation with Sufyan’s father, Irfan Mehsud, who holds more than 100 Guinness World Records and operates a training academy in Dera Ismail Khan. Irfan briefed the Prime Minister on the academy’s achievements and its role in nurturing young athletes.
The meeting was attended by key figures including the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program Rana Mashhood, and the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam.
This initiative underscores the government’s strategy to invest in the youth by fostering an environment that supports their development in various fields, including sports.
