Islamabad: Athletes and officials from the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation were received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today, discussing the development and promotion of martial arts in the country. The Prime Minister emphasized that enhancing sports activities is a primary agenda for the government and pledged full support to the federation.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting included discussions on the recent Mixed Martial Arts Combat event held in Lahore. The Prime Minister praised the athletes for their outstanding performance and highlighted the importance of hosting international events to showcase the country’s talent and capabilities in martial arts.
Shehbaz Sharif assured that the government aims to create a conducive environment for young athletes to thrive and stated that ensuring sponsorship for players representing Pakistan internationally is a government responsibility. He recognized the federation’s efforts in organizing the Combat week in Lahore, where Pakistani athletes secured twelve gold medals in the Asian Martial Arts category.
During the meeting, federation officials and athletes presented their recommendations for the advancement of martial arts in Pakistan. The Prime Minister directed relevant authorities to consider these proposals carefully and formulate an effective strategy to foster this sport further.
