Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the government’s plan to launch a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting football across the nation. This declaration came during a meeting with the Pakistan Street Child Football team, which recently secured a silver medal at the International Street Child Football tournament in Norway.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif held discussions with the team in Islamabad, expressing admiration for their achievements and the honor they brought to Pakistan on an international platform. He assured the young athletes of the government’s full support in nurturing their talents and highlighted the potential of Pakistani youth to excel globally if provided with adequate opportunities.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also instructed relevant authorities to take immediate steps towards the restoration of departmental sports and to prepare a report on the progress of these efforts. This direction underscores the administration’s commitment to not only enhance the infrastructure and support for football but also to revive the broader sports ecosystem within the country.
