Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore new avenues of collaboration under the Special Investment Facilitation Council framework established by the Pakistani government. This announcement was made during a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, held in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the potential for enhanced bilateral trade and investment cooperation, with a particular focus on sectors such as energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, tourism, and infrastructure development. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of relations between Pakistan and Qatar, which he noted are grounded in shared faith, values, and mutual respect.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged Qatar’s significant role as a partner and influential regional mediator. He expressed appreciation for Qatar’s consistent support on both regional and global issues and reiterated Pakistan’s intention to strengthen collaboration in regional and multilateral forums.
In response, Sheikh Faisal conveyed greetings from the Qatari leadership and affirmed Qatar’s commitment to deepening economic engagement with Pakistan. Sheikh Faisal is visiting Pakistan to co-chair the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission, a key platform for reviewing existing cooperation and identifying new initiatives to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
Both parties agreed to maintain close coordination to translate shared understandings into tangible outcomes, including greater facilitation for business-to-business linkages and investment projects.
