PM Sharif Orders Enhanced Flood Rescue Operations

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken direct oversight of rescue and relief efforts in the flood-stricken upper regions of the country, focusing on ensuring the swift delivery of aid and the rescue of those affected.

The prime minister is maintaining regular communication with the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to facilitate the distribution of relief supplies, the evacuation of residents to safer areas, and the ongoing search for missing individuals.

In response to directives from the prime minister, the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan has been actively engaged in overseeing relief operations in the flood-impacted areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need to accelerate rescue operations and prioritize the provision of essential supplies, including tents, medicines, and medical assistance, to those affected by the floods.

He also instructed that advance weather information be disseminated to residents in the flood-affected and surrounding areas to prepare them for any potential emergencies.

The prime minister further directed the NDMA to strengthen its coordination with Provincial Disaster Management Authorities and disaster management bodies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, to ensure comprehensive assistance.

Efforts are being made to expedite the reopening of roads blocked by rain and landslides, with instructions to provide immediate aid to passengers stranded on obstructed highways.
