PM Sharif Lauds European Recognition of Palestine, Seeks Similar Support for Kashmir

Islamabad, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended Spain, Norway, and Ireland for their recent decisions to recognize the state of Palestine, expressing hope that such international support will also extend to the Kashmir issue. This statement comes amid ongoing tensions and violence in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the recognition of Palestine by these European nations follows similar moves by Caribbean nations, with the announcements made on Wednesday. In a recent phone conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, PM Sharif praised Norway’s stance as a beacon of hope for oppressed regions, emphasizing the parallels between the situations in Palestine and Kashmir. He specifically highlighted the continuous challenges faced by the Kashmiri people, suggesting that international recognition similar to that given to Palestine could significantly impact the region’s struggle for self-determination.

The Pakistani leader’s remarks reflect a broader push for Kashmir’s plight to gain more prominent international attention and support.
