Islamabad: An ambitious initiative to revitalize twenty of Pakistan’s most impoverished districts has been launched, aimed at fostering regional growth and cooperation among provincial governments. This plan, disclosed during the National Assembly’s Question Hour, seeks to harness both federal and provincial resources to address urban and rural development needs effectively.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the collaborative nature of this initiative, highlighting the role of provincial authorities in this comprehensive effort. The initiative includes significant projects like a new motorway connecting Karachi and Hyderabad and a development package tailored for Sindh’s urban centers, both slated for detailed discussion with local elected officials.
Furthermore, the government has designated Balochistan’s development as a high priority, aligning with broader strategies to promote equitable growth across all provinces. Amidst discussions, Minister Iqbal responded to opposition critiques, firmly denying any concessions to the PTI’s founding chairman, who he stated must seek legal exoneration.
The session concluded with plans to reconvene on Monday, promising ongoing debates and developments on these critical initiatives aimed at national advancement.
