Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to intensify action against human traffickers in the wake of a tragic boat capsizing incident off the coast of Libya, which claimed the lives of four Pakistani nationals.
In a statement shared on his X timeline, the Prime Minister expressed his sorrow over reports from Pakistan’s mission in Tripoli regarding the incident near the Harawa Coast, east of Sirte. Among the 11 casualties, at least four were confirmed to be Pakistanis.
Sharif confirmed that Pakistan’s Mission in Tripoli, along with the Foreign Office, is collaborating with local authorities to recover the bodies of the deceased.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to taking stringent measures against those responsible for enticing citizens into perilous journeys. The Prime Minister pledged to continue efforts to prevent families from enduring such tragedies in the future.
