Islamabad, June 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met United States’ Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry on the sidelines of New Global Financing Pact Summit in France. During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the priorities of John Kerry and the US government on the issue of climate.

The Prime Minister said environmental issues are a common problem of the world that requires joint strategies and efforts to control it. He said increasing environmental problems are adversely affecting the development and growth rate of developing countries.

Shehbaz Sharif said that amid severe economic difficulties devastating floods in 2022 made the problems even more difficult. He stressed that developed countries should play a special role in helping developing countries to overcome the negative impact of environmental issues on growth rates. The two leaders agreed to proceed with consultations for joint efforts to address the issue of climate change.
