Islamabad, Committing to renewing the vigor of hockey among the younger generation, Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has announced the government’s intent to introduce comprehensive measures that bolster the sport, echoing the nation’s rich history and achievements in the field.
According to a news release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while in a conversation with former Captain of the Pakistan Hockey Team, Islahuddin Siddiqui, in Islamabad today, PM Kakar emphasized providing top-notch amenities to hockey players. Such provisions will be instrumental in gearing them up for international tournaments.
Referring to the golden era of Pakistan Hockey, the Prime Minister remarked upon the disconcerting current status of the national sport. Yet, he remained firm in his determination to undertake every feasible step to restore its former prominence.
During their dialogue, PM Kakar paid homage to iconic figures like Islahuddin Siddiqui, recognizing them as the nation’s true champions. In a gesture of esteem, Siddiqui handed over a copy of his autobiography, ‘Dash Through My Life,’ to the Prime Minister.
