Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a clear breach of international law, including the United Nations Charter, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. His statement, made in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, underscores Pakistan’s solidarity with the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and its opposition to India’s efforts to alter the demographic and political identity of IIOJK.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day as a reflection of Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s rightful quest for self-determination, as well as a tribute to their decades-long sacrifices. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that a lasting resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute can only be achieved in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri people.
Kakar criticized India’s ongoing campaign to suppress the Kashmiri population through extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, and media censorship, noting that such actions have been extensively documented by human rights organizations and international media. He also pointed out that the Indian Supreme Court’s recent judgment further undermines the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
The Prime Minister called on India to grant unrestricted access to UN and OIC observers, international media, and human rights organizations to IIOJK to witness and report on the situation firsthand. He affirmed Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmir cause, highlighting the international obligation to respect the will of the Kashmiri people through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices.
Islamabad, In a significant move towards the well-being of the police force, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has released over 12 lakh rupees for the health welfare of seven officials serving in various districts across Punjab. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Punjab Police to the health and welfare of its members.
According to Punjab Police, the funds allocated will aid the treatment of various health issues faced by the police officials and their family members. Head Constable Shabir Chandio of Layyah Police received Rs. 5 lakh for his wife’s liver cancer treatment. ASI Muhammad Anees from Faisalabad was granted two and a half lakh rupees for his wife’s medical needs. Similarly, Senior Traffic Warden Asif Mahmood of Rawalpindi and SP Fateh Ahmad of PHP Lahore received financial assistance for their wives’ treatment. Sub-Inspector Mehboob Hussain of Rawalpindi Police was referred to the Kidney and Liver Institute for a liver transplant. ASI Muhammad Arshad Shakir of Lahore and Constable Amir Ali were also provided financial support for their respective medical treatments.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed the continuation of such health welfare measures and emphasized the need for the welfare branch to provide prompt and adequate financial support to the force based on requests from different districts. This approach reflects the Punjab Police’s dedication to supporting its personnel in times of need, thereby strengthening the overall morale and efficiency of the force.
