PM Invites Political Unity to Bolster Pakistan’s Progress

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called on all political parties to join the Meesaaq-e-Istehkaam-e-Pakistan, a pact aimed at fostering the country’s progress and stability. The announcement was made during a grand ceremony in Islamabad celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day and the country’s recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq campaign.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the importance of unity, asserting that despite political differences, the nation must unify for the country’s greater good. He highlighted Pakistan’s successful efforts in combating terrorism and pledged to prevent its resurgence.

The Prime Minister also announced the establishment of the Army Rocket Force Command, a move designed to enhance the country’s defense capabilities. He reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear program remains purely defensive.

During his speech, Sharif acknowledged the support of international allies, including China, Turkiye, and the United States, for their diplomatic backing against India’s allegations and aggression. He expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for facilitating a ceasefire and voiced hope for resolving the Kashmir issue under United Nations resolutions.

On economic matters, Sharif stressed his government’s commitment to public welfare, citing improvements in inflation rates, a robust stock market, and renewed investor confidence. He emphasized the role of youth in shaping a prosperous future for Pakistan.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his collaboration with the civilian government in national development efforts. He also extended Independence Day greetings to overseas Pakistanis, acknowledging their economic contributions through remittances.

Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming the country’s principled stance on these issues.

The ceremony included the unveiling of the Marka-e-Haq monument, a tribute to a campaign that rejuvenated national spirit. President Asif Ali Zardari, along with other high-ranking officials and international dignitaries, attended the event.

The celebration featured a parade, a flypast by the Pakistan Air Force, and performances by military bands. Documentaries highlighting Pakistan’s journey and achievements were also screened.

The event concluded with a fireworks display, marking the 79th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence and commemorating the courage and resilience demonstrated in the Marka-e-Haq campaign.
