PM in New York to Attend UNGA’s 79th Session, Joined by Key Ministers

New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York on a five-day visit to the United States to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The Prime Minister is joined by a high-level delegation, including the Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his stay, Prime Minister Sharif will have a packed schedule, starting with today’s activities. He is set to attend a reception hosted by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres for the heads of member states. At this event, Prime Minister Sharif will engage in informal meetings with various countries’ leaders.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the UNGA’s 2024 session. An important bilateral meeting is also scheduled with the President of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the Maldives.

This visit underscores Pakistan’s active participation and engagement in global diplomatic efforts and multilateral discussions at the United Nations.
