ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on Thursday evening to discuss the evolving situation in South Asia.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for Qatar’s continued support and solidarity with Pakistan. He highlighted the strong fraternal relations between the two nations.
The conversation included a focus on regional security issues. Prime Minister Sharif condemned terrorism in all forms and outlined Pakistan’s significant contributions to the fight against terror. He dismissed recent Indian attempts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, emphasizing the absence of evidence. He reiterated his call for a credible, transparent, and neutral international investigation.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif raised concerns about India’s use of water resources from the Indus Basin. He described this as a critical issue for Pakistan, noting the water’s importance to its 240 million citizens.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that Pakistan, having made considerable economic progress recently, had no reason to engage in destabilizing activities.
The Amir of Qatar, in response, acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace in South Asia. He expressed Qatar’s desire to collaborate with Pakistan to de-escalate current tensions in the region.
